Default Customs, Heer or SS sabre ?

    Hello to all,
Here is a lovely WKC N°1016 model .... According to the seller that is a SS fuhrersabel ( funny the number of blades that turn SS overnight when for sale ) .... It is supposed to have silvering left but i mainly see brass here .... my guess is that is a Heer or Customs at best with an ugly repro SS knot ....
    Your call ?
    Regards
    K

Looks like a WKC sword to me with the gold worn off with an added fake SS knot to support authenticity to the story.

It is as you say, Heer or Zollbeamte sabre Nr 1016, gold finish and not for SS.

    Hello,
Thank you for the answers ...
Actually i think there is tarnished silvering left here and there on the pommel while the golden aspect is the brass base of the beast showing .... I am quite sure it is a Customs 1016 model ... Asked for daylight pics without the knot and i'll post them hopefully very soon

Hopefully some new images in natural daylight will provide some guidance in evaluating this saber. Silver finished over brass swords will normally have that finish intact in the recesses with the silver color worn off of the high points - which is not what I seem to be seeing here. Best Regards, Fred

I remove silver polish remains with a toothbrush and the result is fantastic at the light of day !

    Great sword Kurt!

i always remove those polish remains by spraying a bit of WD40 and using a cut down toothbrush (yes again WD40 ) and let it work for about 20 seconds, then wipe it dry with a soft clean cloth.
    Works perfectly.

    Cheers
