German Sword

Hello, just got this sword today, its my first German sword and I dont know much about them, but it seemed like a good price (£85) even though the condition is a bit rough. I can see that its 1914 dated and I presume that its an NCO's sword. Any other info would be appreciated.

I have a 1930's sword knot- do any of you feel this can legitimately be displayed with an Imperial sword? I.e. are the WW1 knots the same design, or is there any evidence of Imperial swords being reused during the TR period? any help appreciated.

get the scabbard cleaned up and then you have a nice set.

Its identical to the third reich version so any of these could have been reused to keep a particular sword in the family for instance.

If you've got a knot put it on, I would.

Thanks for the comments, the makers name is obscured but appears to start 'Lunes..' and presumably 'Solingen' underneath.

Am I right that this is an NCO's sword?

After some trial and error eventually got the knot in place!

Maybe Luneschloss Solingen?
I must admit that I never bidi such a combination deggen / saber.
My advice is - leave the sword in such a condition.
