Looks like a Fake to me, I can't see a backwards swastika getting produced in the TR , much more likely Pakistan.
The quality of the casting is terrible - you can barely make out that its an eagle! ( got the head of an owl )

Hi Deo....you are correct about one thing....rumors are all they are and has no fact until proven otherwise. I will move your thread to the Third Reich Sword forum..for further review.
A quick look at all Third Reich swords assembled by the forums Master Swordman Michael Ryan ..an exhaustive work which also are other pinned threads regarding these swords.
Swords of the Third Reich, Imperial through 1945 - Quick Reference
This sword for being a supposed Third Reich Production does show a backwards swastika.....or my thoughts lean more into the photo itself being reversed . This is not early production ...no Third Reich edged weapon no matter what period had a backwards swastika..which is against National Socialist Doctrine.
Show a photo of the whole reverse side of the grip and langet..not showing the eagle..also show a photo of both sides of the top of the sword handle. Looking forward to the photos.
Regards Larry

As I recently stated elsewhere - in spite of it's appearance - from memory it's probably a later period Voos with a white metal base hilt, and in not the best of condition having had some foolng around. Still needing to confirm when I get back and have a chance to check it out. Best Regards, Fred
Confirmed. In a discussion quite a while ago with Tom aka "Swordfish" an über-specialist collector. It was discussed that because many early brass hilted swords from Voos have the conventional configuration with better detailing that perhaps the original company mold maker was called into service, or retired etc. And that his replacement was less skilled - which I know is speculative. But at the time seeming to be the best possible explanation, with nothing new since then that I'm aware of. Best Regards, Fred
So, are you saying you believe this to be an original TR piece?

Mark

I much appreciate finding this EICKHORN post #60 on Michael Ryan's impressive thread.
While I agree with both CBH and Danmark, I also find the OP artwork pleasing to the eye and the construction to be sturdy.
It should start a discussion into the extensive history of the symbol, be it backwards or forwards.
At least the maker of the opening post sword has experience in making decorative reproductions, if that is what you want......Doug.
In the NS view..how could a backwards swastika ( a symbol and most center of a New Order ) could actually be produced in reverse..I heard of bad monday morning jobs....but with collecting TR artifacts..its usually the most searched for icon.
I surely hope this is not the new norm in acceptance of TR Edged Weapons.
The Swastika although centuries old from the far east as a symbol of good luck ....it was Hitler..who twisted it in the opposite direction or a matter of factly .." forward "..to suit his NS agenda from the early days ...writing history..and until the end of the war when Hitler died so did the present Nazi idea of that time.
The forward swastika is widely renown and the uneducated see the reverse swaz..as the same.
I can not see a sword of this calibre being a Third Reich era sword being produced with a backwards swastika. Where are the other examples if this were the case..and it is still my belief the OPs photo was reversed.....and where is Deodaru now? ...Im still waiting for more photos..or is this another hit and run poster?
Regards Larry
