It is a Bavarian Cavalry officer's off duty sabre. The "D" shape is a common feature of Bavarian swords. A full length photo of the blade would be nice, do you have the scabbard?
Possibly a later period manufactured example, it's true that the Krupp firm in Germany was a pioneer in making stainless steel. But past experience shows that the blade here is to an extremely high probability going to be well preserved nickel plated conventional steel. Best Regards, Fred
