Description: 1st Model Luftwaffe Dagger with Unmarked Blade Possibly by Emil Voos
This is a first edition Luftwaffe dagger with an unmarked blade in fair condition. This is a transitional piece having aluminum fittings with the aged patina. The fittings on the hilt and scabbard have an aged patina rendering a darkened appearance. The grip is in a great shape with the leather being in good condition. It is tightly wrapped with a two strand of plated brass wire that are twisted. The scabbard is all original, although the leather has worn off or been removed. This could easily be redone, as other collectors have informed me. The ferrule is an unadorned aluminum which is a very common finding on Voos works. The unmarked blade is a decent shape with some scuff marks from sliding into the scabbard! It remains bright and shiny with nice edges. The scabbard shell is straight! Like the hilt, the scabbard fittings are an aluminum base metal with a beautiful silver finish and an outstanding matching patina. The fittings exhibit some wear and age, typical of a period artifact. They are retained by flathead screws with three showing turning signs. The chain is the aluminum style with a silver finish that has NOT held up over the years. NOT uncommon on Voos examples. The aluminum snap clip is functional being stamped with the OLC marking A RARE find and a MUST for the type collector! Also included is the original leather belt loop.
