Unverifiable origin, most likely a dud. If you are interested to obtains genuine Third Reich rings, and are willing to pay for this thing solely for the gold, why not keep your money and buy something authentic?

With the casting flaws(Bubbles) on the front left. It looks like this had a different face to it that was ground away to make the SS insignia.
I would think if made for the SS, it's would have been cast into the mold.
This may explain the British hallmarks verses German hallmarks.
It was made in England but modified to look like something it's not.
Just my 2 centavos on the subject.

Maybe this was a 'KISS' ring that somebody ground the 'KI' off of? Would fit the positioning of the runes.
