No such thing as an 'SS canteen ring'. Never was. While this might be another variant of the well-known Kantine skull ring designs that we're all familiar with, I have not previously seen this particular pattern. It's unusual. Is that a flower, or perhaps an acorn, on the shank?
Interesting-looking ring; while it might be Third Reich in origin (assuming it's even German), but we need clearer photos. What is the mark behind the cartouche?
Welcome to the Forum.
Thank you Spitfire! My understanding was that 'canteen rings' were rings that could be purchased by SS men (as opposed to the Honor rings that were gifted) - is this just a folktake?
I will email the owner to see if there are any marks on the ring.
Searching for anything relating to, Anton Boos, 934 Stamm. Kp. Pz. Erz. Abt. 7, 3 Kompanie, Panzer-Regiment 2, 16th Panzer-Division (My father)
Oh I see, thank you for the info Ralph, was not aware of this!
just regular ring of ww2 time and nothing more
Got it thanks, any markings/signs on it that would make it military/related to Third Reich or is it simply as others said a ring that could be purchased by anyone?
