    Hi all!!!
    Picked these up in a big bowl of old buttons in the charity shop!!

    One original RAF button made in Birmingham.. 17mm
    And the rest .....Made in India!!! 4 x 22mm 2 x 17mm...the quality is very poor on the Indian made examples!!!!(see pic British left Indian right)
    please can you tell me.....

    Are these Wartime made/used???? or post war???

    Nice buttons, Indian ones are certainly WW2

    Agreed, WW2 in date.

    I had an Indian made RAF FS cap in my last auction at work.
    Had good advice? Saved money? Why not become a Gold Club Member, just hit the green "Join WRF Club" tab at the top of the page and help support the forum!

    I agree just with the caveat that independance was in 1947 so it is very likely that stocks of buttons and other insignia which would not have been run down in the same way as they would had the date been planned for some time, would have been "wasted out" as far as possible during the last year or so in order that there would be no great surplus to dispose of as there would be no desire to ship stores back to Britain even then. So still WWII butons but possibly issued and used post-war.
