Question Cavalry M1926 coat or „sovietized” tsarist M1912?

    Hi guys
Recently started bringing this boght in Russia coat back to life (applying tabs and shoulder boards be existing traces and pieces of green and rapsberry thread) believing it’s 1920s M1926 cavalry coat, but something has struck me.
1- traces of nagrudnye klapani (breast tabs) removed by order in 1924. How these could be worn in coat introduced in 1926?
2- piece of red cloth on collar edge and red thread pieces all around collar. Can’t be collar tab as this piece is right on part stitched to the frontal piece. What came to my mind in red piping introduced for RIA artillery in 1907 and banned in late August 1914.
3- initially thought that there was just one trace of collar tabs, but turned out to be two! One sewned to the lower stitch of collar with traces of green and rapsberry thread. But when I put on M1943 collar tabs turned out that one pair of tabs was much longer and left red thread pieces. Also these were most likely sewned a bit higher than lower stitch of collar (just like RIA tabs).
4- breast hooks were most likely resewned (note thread which used to hold hooks like in RIA coats. Then resewned to new place and covered with cloth).
5-rear buttons (black, steel marked 1920s type) were most likely resewned. There’s thread piece of old button next to it.
6- traces of stitched shoulder boards, but these could be as well M1943 pagoni.

Now, why Im not sure if it’s RIA coat.
1- patches in buttons area in RIA coats were usually narrow, not wide like here.
2- cuffs are most likely matching 1926 type. In M1912 had this tongue in front of sleeve.

Except this there are traces of M1941 collar tabs being sewned. For sure this coat had passed a lot but what exactely it is?
    What do you think?

    Hello Jacob,

When I'll have a bit of time, I'll post some picture of my obr.27 greatcoat, made in the early 1930s, at least to compare the two.

I have two observations: in your greatcoat, are there signs left from triangle collar insignia? Are there any markings, except the one showed? I think the one showed is a depot mark, I saw the same on a 1950s greatcoat I had years ago, but I believe it was used also earlier ;D

    Best regards
    Gabriele

Based on your observations of all the changes made to this overcoat, could this coat have been used for movie/theatrical purposes?

Would be great to see similar example
I can’t see any triangle insignia traces of collar. I can only see traces from M41 petlitsi, M43 for infantry and these Red „tsarist” looking collar tabs.
I spotted one leftover from black square stamp (but it’s absolutely gone” and next to it something looking like hammer and sickle but not sure, might be just a stain.
You know, most of uniform factories used the same or very similar stamps in early 1940s through 1950s
But this stamp is surely interesting. I’ve been thinking about movie/ theater depot stamp.

    Might be.
Maybe soldier who wore it (traces of khaki 1941 petlitsi and M43 infantry insignia) later sold it to a theater. Indeed these „tsarist” insignia look like were last there, after RKKA wartime insignia.
