    This is quite similar to two of mine. One has the same prongs although the hammer and sickle is meaningfully different in several details.

    I would have dated these to the 1920s TBH, but of course am open to further comments!

    Thank you so much for the book suggestions! I knew the BBC one (although I sadly do not own any of the three great volumes of that!) and the NKVD one, but the French book is an interesting novelty for me! I'll try to hunt it down.

    Also, re our stars, here I attach scans of one of my enamelled 1920s stars and a group photo of several painted ones. Look at the prongs of my intact 1920s painted star on top of the group photo, they do look very similar to those on the star you are enquiring about in my topic and to those of the first star of mine I posted in my previous message. Should we take this as sign that these two latter stars are late 1920s production?
