    Hello Guys,

Did anyone has already seen or possessed a pair of wartime private border guard field shoulderboards ( green piped)? I have (and seen) some officer's field pairs , or service private shoulderboards (green with raspberry piping), but I have never seen a pair of field shoulderboards for private, caporal or sergeant.

    Thank you for your answer.

    JS,

I personally, have never seen such a pair. I'm sure that they are among the rarest of field shoulder boards. It may be worth asking our Russian colleagues on one of their discussion forums.

Hello Richie, thank you for your answer which confirms my feeling. This situation is strange. Why are they so rare? i know that border troops had many looses and hard fights, but "rare" should be a bit different than "impossible to find". Some pairs are rare too (private field NKVD or RCM for example) but sometimes such a pair is on sale.
Even post war or 50's pairs of field private border troops are very uncommon.
    Regards.

I would think they would look like this - less the stripes and stars, of course.

Beautifull! It is a Lend lease fabric, isn't it? Many field NKVD's boards are made of this type of fabric, and many NKVD's gym too. 70% of l'y NKVD uniforms ( gymnasterkas or kitels) are lend-leased.

Hello Bruno, nice to see these examples. Even field officer's boards are difficult to find.

Yes JS, the background material is Lend-Lease Fabric.

A lot of uniform items in general (not only NKVD) were constructed from such material - well into the 1950s.

Bruno, you need to swap stars between the two cornflower piped shoulder-boards....
