Hi All,
A few more pieces from my collection again today. Here we have a 1939 (Has '39 on the tag) dated Royal Artillery Officers service dress jacket/tunic and trousers. The tunic and trousers show signs of being used extensively throughout its service life with a few repairs in places and heavily worn buttons. In the pocket this retains a matching belt with brass buckle and in the top left breast pocket there was another medal ribbon bar matching the one on the tunic with the 1939-45 star, the defence medal and the war medal.
I do like the small pocket with the leather closing tab as this is something I've not seen on any of my other British uniforms.
Unfortunately the name has worn off from the label and Austin Reed shut down in 2016 so there's no easy way to find their records that I'm aware of.
It is currently ranked to a Captain although I am not certain as to whether the R on the epaulettes are original to the uniform or not.
This group also came with a period shirt that had a set of captains pips on the epaulettes.
I hope you all enjoy,
Matt
Hopefully all the pictures will load the right way round this time![]()
