I lucked into an old Royal Canadian Navy ratings greatcoat at my neighbourhood charity store (never skip the women's outerwear section!) and I'm trying to learn a little more about it. Unfortunately, it's had its tags removed so I have little information to go on. I'm wondering if anyone here with knowledge of Canadian or Royal Navy (since I understand the designs were essentially the same) uniforms can assist with dating, authenticity and/or service history.

    Leads:
-The only identifying features on this coat are two interior labels, one factory printed the other stencilled. They say "C B CODE" or "CBCODE", respectively. I would love to know what this means. (note: I may be misreading these, since both labels are quite faded)
-The buttons on this coat were in service from 1910 through 1952.
-The coat does not follow the RN austerity pattern from the Second World War, but I don't know if those patterns were used by the RCN.

Any tips for more details to look for?

    Much appreciated!

Update: It took me a couple days to realize C.B.Code was the original wearer; Code did not immediately register as a surname. I was able to identify the individual, to a high degree of certainty. Helpfully, Mr. Code's obituary had an image of his service medals (1939-1945 Star, France and Germany Star, War Medal 1939-1945, and Canadian Volunteer Service Medal w/ Overseas Bar). To be eligible for all these medals, I can estimate that Code deployed between December 7, 1943 and November 8, 1944, and served at least 18 months.

Follow-up question to the community: Would Code have had access to this coat as a (presumably) ordinary seaman during the war or would he have to have made able seaman after 30 months of service (June 1946-May 1947)?

    Thanks!
