M-1926 5th infantry division uniform
Article about: Only photos I have so far. Does anyone know of a safe way to clean the collar disc?

Received this today. Upon closer inspection the collar disc appears to have been domed out and a brighter gold applied to it. Buttons are fastened with rings and there is a tag dating it to what looks like 1934 or 36. No name just B-1738 stamped a few times.

Very nice interwar jacket! The collar brass also match the period of the jacket and looks to be from the 1924-1937 period (although they could have been issued post-1937).
Here's a link with some great information on collar disks:

Thanks! Do you think with that timeframe this potentially belonged to a soldier in the 10th infantry regiment? As they were the only active component of the 5th ID until the late 30s?

Long story short.
When the Division was deactivated , its 10th Brigade (5th Division) carried on and had elements assigned to it and allotted to Fifth Corp Area c 1922.
The units assigned , albeit a trainning function were 6th Inf Regt 1919-1921, 10th Inf Regt 1923-1939 and 11th Inf Regt 1919-1939.
In essence "B" could refer to any unit of the above.

thank you, atleast that narrows it down a bit for me.

I should add Co. "B"
6th IR relieved from 5th Division August 1921.
10th Inf a lot of transfers , re designations , deactivation and Battalion movements.
11th Inf. remained under 5th Division from 1919-1939.
So not much narrowing down , however I guess you can sdd original DUI , collar disk , chevrons etc to represent a regiment from the 5th during early 20's to 30.
