Hi Guys, I was very kindly given this uniform group from a late friend some years ago. The tunic and trousers originally belonged to his late Father in law. He lived locally to me.

He told me the Officer concerned, Capt, later Major Kirkland, served at some point in India and the tunic & trousers had certainly seen wear out there.

Both items were tailor made in London by "Parsons & Stewart" within two days of each other in May 1941.

The use the Other Ranks "RE" brass shoulder titles is non regulation by an Officer. But this is not unknown and I suspect it was done to help fill up one of the sets of holes left in the shoulder straps after his promotion from Captain to Major. Collar dogs are the conventional Officers bronze examples. Buttons are Royal Engineers pattern.

The condition of both items is really good and the trousers still have the braces attached to them. Note the typical period tailoring of the trousers with the high cut of the rear waist.

    Cheers, Ade.
