Unknown Uniform

Hey Guys

I am new to this forum.
My name is chris and I collect German items - started many years ago with some things out of my family.

Some time ago an old man gave me this Uniform and told me that his brother a german Landser was caught by the US and send into captivity somewhere in the US.

Years later he returned to Germany bringing the Uniform with him, which he had to wear during captivity.

So maybe you could tell me where it is from and what kind it is?

US Army one piece herring bone twill overall. WW2 vintage.

Not in wide spread use in the US Army.

Used extensively by Dutch forces in Indonesia in the 1945-1949 decolonisation war.
