Thanks, Do you know how it's worth?
at a flea sale in NJ it is $15,, there are still a lot of them around
Hi trevor, it is a post war M1950 patern "Ike" jacket. Sadly these do not make much money yet. But they are still nice historical items and well worth collecting, especially for younger collecetors such as yourself with a limited budget.
Cheers, Ade.
Right, found a pocket today with a label inside that says "Beaconwear O.D.M- 1950" & "Dated 20 May 1953, A.S.T.A.P.A, Size 38R"
Also, it has a braid on the shoulder. I think it's called an "Engineer's Cap Braid". Any thoughts, please and thnx!
Hi Trevor, glad you found the Quartermaster's label on your "Ike" jacket. That is the nice thing about US items. The labels give lots of info and the date the jacket was made.
The braid is called a Lanyard. Yours is pale blue, which is for the Infantry. This was their colour and can also be found on their Overseas caps. Each branch of service had their own colour.
Cheers, Ade.
Right Mate! Thnx for the info!
