Guy local offered this lid. I am sceptical. Its a swivel bale front seam

My advice. - run, don’t walk, RUN, to the nearest exit. Jim G.
Just what i expected. After further research here on other m2 lids this is just an m1 made to look like an m2 somewhat
Your instincts are correct.
Edit: Jim beat me to it. That "spade" is a joke. And that's not even looking at the helmet hardware

My greatest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them

Yes everything looks pretty bad now looking atvhardware paint liner etc. Fantasy made helmet i wouldn't give much for lol
In my opinion you have a better chance of winning the lottery than finding a 506th helmet like this. I'm glad you posted here first before pulling the trigger on it
I'm not a US helmet collector but an original medic 506 PIR would be "THE" holy grail of M1s. Medic AND 506 PIR?

The guys behavior pretty much gave it away. Wanted 1300, then 350 and then 200... So i made this posting and then began research on these.... The findings led me to believe the helmet was an m1 made to look like an m2 paratrooper lid... Except the faker didn't realize every detail etc.
Okay reenactor helmet, collection piece meh
Same old story.
What was probably an OK collectible is now just something of "film prop" status at best!
