estate sale find

Article about: I stopped at an estate sale yesterday and found this ww2 M-1 helmet. It has all it's original exterior paint with hardly a blemish on it. The interior is almost as nice, the only paint loss

Add a zero to you purchase price and that's likely the minimum one would have to pay for a similar item. Very well done!
    Without a doubt!
Plus that spurious paint doesn't look very thick and as it is most likely some kind of "hobby paint" it should be fairly easy to correct. One option might be to remove the bad paint, repaint with an authentic paint. Then if you don't want a restored liner in an untouched shell, sell the liner as restored and add a suitable untouched period item. I believe you would still be in substantial profit.

Personally I think I would just remove the paint and make a decision then.

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing he cares more about than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature with no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

I went back and picked up his officer's peaked cap.
It's condition is only so-so. I'll post it when I can get time to take some descent photos.

I agree with removing the black pain on the exterior of the fibre liner, but as it is named I would not be selling it on myself. You did great on the price I hope you can reunite the helmet with some class A pieces etc.
