    The helmet has a McCord shell with the heatstamp 866F from January - March 1944 with original sewn WW2 chin strap. Only the outside of the shell has received a new coat of paint.

    The liner is from Capac and also a WW2 production.
    The sweatband and neckband have been replaced. These parts are dated 1960. The liner was also painted over.

    The helmet cover is a 1959 USMC cover.

    First off as always your photos are nice and detailed. The helmet configuration is classic early Vietnam Marine Corps. Be careful with that leather chinstrap, it’s a brittle one LOL. You have a fine example A+.
    The cover is one that is getting more and more desirable.

    Great helmet, and yes it was common for the USMC to be issued older kit.
