Hello all, was wondering if anyone could give any tid bits of information on this USAAF m1. Seller states that the helmet was probably refurbished later in the 70’s but the decal was dug out by someone under the new paint. Would $100 be fair?

Hello all, was wondering if anyone could give any tid bits of information on this USAAF m1. Seller states that the helmet was probably refurbished later in the 70’s but the decal was dug out by someone under the new paint. Would $100 be fair?
A helmet with character, the rear seam and swivel bales would make it later WW2 issue, I'm not sure when the insignia was added but I would think it was after 1945?
Thanks for letting me know about it being a later issued helmet and for the insignia I’m also not 100% sure on the date. I guess we will see if someone else chimes in about it.
