M1 Helmet Vietnam Era - "Operation Alligator Hide 67", 1st Battalion, 27th Marines ?

Hello,

here is another helmet from the Vietnam era that I could get.
















The chinstrap has olive-painted material parts from North & Judd.












The helmet has a clearly worn USMC cover from WW2 production without the slots for camouflage material and with an EGA diamond added later from around 1956. The stamped EGA symbol is still faintly recognizable.
A piece of inner tube serves as a helmet strap












The inner helmet is a CAPAC / Westinghouese from 1951-1953.
The sweatband and neckband were renewed in the 1960's.














The grafitti on the helmet are interesting. Next to the name "Rhoden" on each side there is "Operation Alligator Hide 67" on one side and the woman's name "Judy" on the other.








After some research I found an article in "Windward Marine", Volume 16, Nr. 15 from April 14, 1967 about "Operation Alligator Hide".
A maneuver / exercise in Hawaii.








Accordingly, the helmet should have belonged to a member of the 1st Battalion, 27th Marines.
