M1 for opinion please

Good evening gents,

I would like to submit this M1 for the opinion of the membership please. I have my opinion but don't want to point either way. Suffice it to say that I would like to know what others think!

The liner is what I take for the darker smoother early olive drab and the shell has a low heatstamp.

It has the patina of age for sure but very little of wear. The drawstring looked wrong to me and like what I at first thought was para cord but is not and it passes a burn test. What do you lot reckon to what appears to be an early fixed bale example?

This is likely the piece to satisfy my aim as far as M1s are concerned (or maybe not?)

It came from the family of a vet in the US via my daughter who is currently posted to Washington DC. Unfortunately the vet is long dead and this came up after his wife who had remarried died so the trail is cold I'm afraid.

I reckon it dates from late '42 to early '43. Am I in the right area?

Mid 42 for the shell would be my guess. Sure Jake and others know better!

All parts date to 1942,don't sell it there are some rare bits with this setup Mark.

Yes, you have an early wire buckle headband worth anywhere between $35-$115.
Also the liner chinstrap appears to be a green buckle worth $60-$100.
