Hi there,
here is another helmet from my Vietnam era collection.
It is a worn complete paratrooper M1C helmet with a helmet cover made of parachute silk.
The shell comes from Ingersoll, is painted in Munsell 10Y 3/3 and has the heat stamp "I 8501".
The chin strap is from North & Judd and bears the well-known anchor symbol and UC 2 on the ball.
The liner was manufactured by Firestone. The webbing is dated 1967. The marking on the sweat band is unfortunately illegible.
On the side of the helmet there are self-painted unit symbols with a "B".
This is likely to be the symbol of the Company B, 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry, 173rd Airborne Brigade. If I'm wrong please correct me.
Regards
