Appears to be a rear seam pot which would likely place it post war. The liner and chin strap are Vietnam era.

how comes it looks so new? never issued maybe? there are signs of wear on the inner

Is there a "HEAT STAMP" number on the inside of the helmet? Usually this will be located near the brim on the front inside of the helmet..
The liner hardware looks to be 60's, the neck strap on the back which was used to support the wearers neck is common in Vietnam era and post VN era helmets. I wore an M1 helmet with the neck strap up until the time I transitioned to the Kevlar helmet in the mid 1980's in the US Army.

It's not a US m1 helmet. The black chinstrap clips look to be painted, US would be hardened black. Is there any markings in the liner? At the moment and I am going out on a limb here I think it may be Belgium.
