Hey lads,

I recently bought this US M1 helmet in Belgium.
The shell is fixed loops, front seam, steel rim and has a good patina with original cork, OD#3 chinstraps, Type 2 buckle and heatstamp 112/113? B.
The liner is fiber Hawley Type 2, just missing the fixed leather chinstrap. Rivets are still present.
Some stress cracks overall.
Date the helmet of end '42 (for me)
I just want some help on the divisional 2nd ID insigna the whom seems to be painted on white first coaing what's not usual.
I remember saw other divisional insigna as e.g. 29th grey and blue or 3rd using white as first coating and then be covered by others colors result to a mix of the colors.
The insigna has been painted more than once for me, as we can see rest of previous version around the shield.
Details of the brown color, mouth and eye are present but really hard to distinguish.
So guys, any opinion ? or
Thank you for your help
