Default US M1 WW2 production? With Vietnam Cameo Cover.

    Hello Forum!

Picked this M1 up on a flea Market today, it has a Vietnam Area Cover but the shell is a front seam so I think the shell is WW2 produced. Could you tell me more about the liner, and if the Pain of the helmet is WW2 or later refurbished? I have no real knowledge on these, but I saw it was a Front Seam, and it was only 40€, so I guessed I could do nothing wrong.

The Cover also has a Pin with the US Army logo on it, is that something official, or just an personalization?

I will post additional pics in sunlight tomorrow, today it was too late.

    Any help would be appreciated!

The helmet is a swivel loop front seam WW2 production that went through a refurbish and is a classic looking early Vietnam helmet. The insignia on the front is for a Specialist OR-4.
I believe it’s a put together set and not sure about the graffiti, not sure why the “born” is spelled with a “m” and not a “n”. I really like the cover. You can pick up chinstraps fairly reasonable.

You are correct, that would put this cover late to post war Vietnam.

Thank you very much again, really happy about my pickup. American M1´s arent that often seen in germany, and then WW2 Liner and shell, in Vietnam configuration. Nice!
