Thought I would share my latest find. The helmet does not have a liner but is a fine example of a ww1 turtle camo on a US helmet. After I got it home I found 3 letters soon the front under the paint. Enjoy

Michael I am not sure if the camo is war time applied or post war, I do know there is debate to the fact. We do know that the Germans did have this pattern. I do know the paint is old with wonderful patina.

Yes aware of the debate (around insignia/flashes). I don't doubt the paint or the helmet (I looked close LoL). I just wasn't sure if they did this during the war or right after like the insignia/flashes.
