Hi all picked up this interesting late wartime dated gauge in a retro shop....does any one have any idea what it came off!!??? and what it was for???....
measures 3 1/4" dia, with three fixing holes through the Bakelite body...

If you google 40 M.A.F.S. it brings up Metal Averaging Flow Sensor, which measures air flow in a duct. Maybe something to do with an early jet aircraft as it's dated 1944 (Gloster Meteor)?....

I had assumed the 40 M.A.F.S. referred to it being Milliamps ...something....something!!
Found a pic of the Gloster Meteor cockpit ... it's the Gauge on the second row up from the bottom, in the centre!!!
