Well then, you have to compare the tool marks on the pin with other "30" marked examples.

It depends on who the manufacturer is, and the time frame of production.

I think the problem with the pin mentioned on the other Forum stems from the fact that there is next to no finish left on it. Generally with gold zinc badges the finish tends to be absorbed by the base metal, but the pin, being of a different material retains the finish as can be seen in this link:
