I think it stands a good chance but the photos are blurry. Not sure if the "pitting" on the reverse are casting marks or not.

Would love to hear what others say. As I am by no means very proficient in wound badges.

Have you compared to other zinc "30's" on the forum?

Welcome to the forum Mr Aurel, There are a couple of very good fakes of the 30 zinc wound badge but I think this one is ok. As Michael says the pictures are very blurry & some better macro shots would help enormously. Are those marks on the back actual holes or just colour variances in the metal ? Regards, Paul

The pitting is typical of zinc badges. My zinc Panzerkampfabzeichen exhibits the same pockmarks on the reverse.

I have to disagree, this is not typical of these awards unless they have suffered neglect, or poor storage.

I agree with your disagreement! Back when I was hunting for a Panzerkampfabzeichen, I wasn't looking for a top end example. Both my panzer badge and the wound badge above appear to have suffered the same neglect in their lifetimes.

While pitting can be caused by poor storage it is also a warning sign for casting. While I do not think this badge is cast, we need to be careful and the photos don't really help

True. Crisper, clearer photographs will be the deciding factor. Silver wound badges aren't an area I'm overly confident in, especially given the likes of the Floch fakes floating about on the market. The step up in authentication difficulty between black and silver badges is a big one.
