    Thanks for posting these photos Anderson. Not enough has been written or said about New Zealand's, and Australia's, contributions to the Viet Nam war. I lost my cousin in this war so it has some very personal interests to me. My utmost respect to all who fought and gave their all in this unnecessary war.

    Were'nt a lot of Australian and New Zealand troops given the very dangerous job of going underground into enemy tunnel and flushing out the Viet Cong earning the name " tunnel rats"?

    Nice pics mate. My Granddad was in Vietnam with the NZ SAS as an adviser.
    He was in the first NZ SAS group and his first tour was in Malaya.

    Yes, standard issue rifle for also Britain and Australia where it was know as the "SLR". The SAS often choosing the M16. NZ Forces by the 1960's were using a mix of equipment mainly from the US and Australia.

    Actually, tunnel rats were volunteers, usually short in stature due to the confines of the tunnels and were comprised of Australian, New Zealand and US troops.
