A marvel and a kind of undoing of the forces of time with adroit craft and art. I should send you a cap of mine for your magic hands. Many warm thanks and congratulations on your fine collection.
The Reichswehr material is first rate and bespeaks a sophisticated and advanced understanding of Germany's military past.

Top class work as always Tony, what a tremendous improvement to the cap!
I bought one of these hand held steamers myself a few weeks ago but haven't tried it out yet. Hopefully it will be just the ticket to sort out the salty Cavalry tunic that arrived yesterday.
How did you fix the tear in the leather? I've yet to find a suitable technique that doesn't involve glue.

    Thank you Gentleman,

It is very satisfying to bring a piece back to something close to what it used to be, not only on a personal level as a collector but also for those who come after.....we are all but temporary custodians and apparently History does not preserve itself.

Given my chosen specialist area, it is also very hard to find pure examples of Reichswehr caps and therefore I am, by necessity, forced to salvage (literally) what I can.

Also, I am always willing to help others with repairs or advice if I can.

    Regards

    Tony
