RW tresse color question

Hello everyone,

Not necessarily a headgear question but a Reichswehr question - I see a lot of Reichswehr uniforms with yellowish-brownish tresse on them, yet I also see some with silver tresse. It's the same fabric pattern, so it's not TR tresse on an older tunic.

I am curious as to whether the silver tresse has yellowed with age and it was originally silver or if it was originally that yellow-brown color?

It will have toned from age.
