Picked up this transit chest which apparently by the markings suggests an air ministry shotgun,it would be single barrel and no longer than 40", i can find no reference on the internet,any ideas anyone,also got a .303 browning chest too.

Not really my area, but I seem to recall that shotguns were used in gunnery instruction - I could of course be completely wrong on that !
Richie B you are correct. I posted this photo I have on the forum before, but I will post it here again, shows Rhodesian personnel practicing their air gunnery using a shotgun. Nice find Wrecker

just got to find a RAF marked gun to go in the box.
I was thinking about contacting the seller of those boxes, I was after the .303 browning box but just never had the time to go and collect.
The shotguns we had in service had lots of uses from vermin control to riot control!

I got them for the starting price so not bad for some nice old boxes.
I believe they used a shotgun tracer round in training too... I've never seen one of the guns.... But Ild like to. like the box
There was a deac RAF shotgun for sale recently on gunstar but pictures long gone .
