    Local gunshop has two 1917s, one Remington and one Winchester. Both are in their correct WW1 configurations, both priced around $995. Both have good finishes, great bores. which one holds a better value?

    Winchester's are worth a bit more than the other two makers. The should be nearly mint at that price. Most all parts are marked with a W, R or E respectively.

    I agree with the above. My first choice would be the Winchester. The price is a little high but Winchester's don't show up for sale very often.
