My neighbor and good friend who is moving, gave me this wonderful firearm as a parting gift. It's a Belgian made FN model 1910 pistol, I believe it's a 9mm. after reading some threads on the weapon I learned they were produced in two different calibers, 7,65mm Auto (32ACP) and 9mm Short (380ACP). This pistol has a serial number #26169 which I read put it in production somewhere after 1914 into the 1920's. The pistol used to assassinate Archduke Ferdinand in 1914 was 19074, to give some reference.
My friends father-in law brought it home as a souvenir from Europe after WWII. He assures me he still has the capture papers somewhere and will give it to me when he finds them. The only detriment to this is that weapon had been re-blued in the 1970's so the original finish is gone. Enjoy the photo's.

Nice rig Aldo. I think your gun is likely 1915 as they were into 20,000 serial range in 1914. Either way prior to WWI. The holster strap was replaced sometime during the history. Capture papers would be an awesome addition to the history.

Thanks for the info John. It's a neat little gun with substantial weight to it. I'm not sure if I'll ever fire it or not but I'm happy to add it to my collection.

I would only shoot it with light loads. Using modern .380 has too much pressure IMHO. It will not blow up but may break internal parts. Parts are not easy to find any more.

I'm not hindered by any knowledge of this subject, but could those proof marks be Dutch (the lion?)?

Lion over PV is a Belgian proof mark.

A lovely pistol by the way! Some people erroneously claim that Gavrilo Princip used a Browning Model 1900 to kill the archduke, but it was the Model 1910, and the actual pistol used, survives to this day. Here's a picture of the actual gun.

    Cheers,
    Steve

Interesting to see the gun that killed millions of people, even if it did so indirectly.
What a different world it might have been, if it misfired.

Very nice piece, also the story about how the gun ended up in your hands is interesting.
