if all he could say was that then you know he got something good!
So Joe,
What did you get???????
The Type 5, Type 38, Type 99....... I know it getting late on the east coast but Don't you dare go to bed with out telling us something!!!
This is worse than watching a Ebay bid count down!!!!!!!!!
Still say it's a late war 99.
Regards,
John
You're correct, sir! I work in a place that is VERY anti gun... If I was caught with it there, I'd be fired immediately. I'm at home now. Literally just took it out if the black plastic garbage bag that the security guard took have it to me in.
I still need to do some major research, but it's all matching, chrysanthemum intact.
It has a late war wooden butt plate, fixed sights, spot welded barrel bands and safety. The bolt handle is still plum shaped... So I think this is a late rifle, but not quite last ditch!
It appears to have been duffle cut... The front hand guard has some back and forth play to it....
Bayonet is missing wooden grip plates and the bolts to secure them. The hooked quillion also has a repair to it. Blade is dull, but is covered in grease and is in good shape.
The rifle itself has a lot of surface rust, but should be restorable!
It may be missing some screws...
LOTS of cobwebs in it!!
Glad you finally got it and am happy for you. please post a pic if you can. Are these guns bringing a substantial amount from collectors these days? I follow the Mauser market but I am not knowledgeable concerning the japanese weapons. Thanks for any info.
