The G33/40 has always been a favorite to collectors, probably because of the low production amount.
I’ve never heard of a 3 piece stock in the G33/40... only hardwood or laminate, as far as I know, are the only options. The rear joint looks to be a decent repair. The forward repair appears to be (maybe) a duffle cut? The forward repair looks good... hopefully pins were added for strength.
Only my two cents... look forward to other comments.
Hi Thomas - my G33/40 also has a repair to the stock at the front end. This would be a field or post-war repair not from the factory.
Pic of mine below....
That being said... looking at the pic, your repair at the front seems identical to mine (but I do not have the butt stock repair).
Interesting, does anyone else have any thoughts on this?
Thanks for info. I found the pictures from my first post on google. I just bought a G33/40 recently and it has exactly the same joints at the same position. I will pick the G33 up on Thursday, then I will post pictures of it.
There is another G33 which has the same joints under this link: Early 1941 production dot41 coded G33/40 Mountain Carbin - Pre98 Antiques
So I though it might be an original connection, but could not find further details to that.
Duffle cut: I can exclude because the rifle is still in Europe
Would appriciate further info/background on those joints
