re: Help broken Bren gun mk11: no power behind cocking handle ?
It would probably be an idea to strip it down and re-assemble it and see if that makes any difference. To field strip it pull out the rear locking pin which is right at the back of the reciever just infront of the stock, once its out slide the lower receiver/trigger mechanism housing (or whatever its called for the bren) back until its almost detached from the weapon. After that pull the cocking handle back and the working parts should slide right out of the back of the weapon.
Thanks
Danny

Sounds as if the cocking spring is either broken or dislodges

re: Help broken Bren gun mk11: no power behind cocking handle ?
Make sure the piston rod assembly and the breech block are seated correctly, when you push the whole assembly back in you should feel some resistance as the spring engages the whole piece, make sure the cocking handle is pushed forward before assembly
