Help with Garand (UPDATE)

Hi there,

As many of you know, here in Jersey we are allowed to own semi-autos, so I have gone and got myself a NM M1 Garand. Its not in the condition I would ideally like, but they rarely come up.

I have just bought this rifle and it was a quick decision as I was in a long line of people waiting to get their hands on one. Can someone please fill me in on exactly what I have here.

The photo of the Barrel actually reads: 30-06 Geneseo. Il.

Oh and the serial no/receiver seems very odd.
