Question How to tell the differences between real and fake Type 99's

I might be going to a gun show in search for an Arisaka Type 99. This would be my first 99. I have done a lot of reasearch on these rifles.

The one thing I need to know is.... What are some characteristics of fake or part-sets rifles from the real war-time production ones??? Is there any concern with "re-stamped" mum's?

I appreciate all of the help, S. Martin

I am most likely going to spend $400-$550 on a Type 99. Do you think I could find a good one in that price range at a gun show?

For that price you should get a mint condition Type 99 with monopod, mum, dust cover, all matching and 95 to 98% origional finish... BILL
