I have always been fond of the Carcano series. They got a bad, and unfair, rap in the American "gun press".
When in good shape, they are accurate and funtional rifles, and the carbines are handy. I have a M-91 long rifle made in Terni in 1917. Seen lots of action in both world wars, and still works just fine.
