Those look terrific, Rich...Thanks for showing! I have a 7mm Mauser Short Rifle -M1895- produced by Ludwig Loewe, Berlin for export to Chile...I really like the compact size as compared to the Full-Size Mausers - and I like having the Turn-Down Bolt too...And no paperwork involved as it's Pre-1899...
cheers, Glenn

Always wanted on of these Rich. Especially the folding bayo
Nice rifle Glenn! Does it kick like a mule? Or is the 7mm round a little more tame?
"Please", Thank You" and proper manners appreciated
My greatest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them

Embarrassed to report that I've never fired it!
Living in the City, I have precious little opportunity to get out and play...
The 7mm Projectile is noted for its Outstanding Ballistic Qualities, btw...
cheers, Glenn
Nice M-38's. Any Finnish marked?
I've always preferred the look of the non-Finnish contract 1939 Model 1938's in 7.35mm. I guess it's the 'first production year' thing and the caliber stamp on the stock, but I'd buy one of those before I'd buy the 6.5mm chambering.

Non Finnish contract? The Carcanos the Finn's got were normal M-38's in 7.35, the only way they were altered in Finnish service was with the addition of a [SA] on the left side of the receiver, by the rear sight. Otherwise they are no different from Italian ones. (Unless i am forgetting something?)
No, they're not different, but they were shipped there specifically for the Finns. Getting one that hasn't been to Finland makes it more likely that it was actually used in hostilities in WWII instead of as a weapon for second or third line troops.
At the flea market wednesday there was a M-38 in 6.5 for sale. It was correct but the butt trap door was broke off.
