    Hello Guys,
Been a while since I posted anything due to operational commitments during the Olympics.
I have been trying to catch up after missing all of the big fairs here.
I have aquired two guns I have been after for some time now The Brown Bess and Mauser M1871 (The single shot German Rifle of the Franco Prussian War) I have also managed to buy a couple of Repro guns from the Fil and TV world.
    From the top
1 Brown Bess India Pattern Circa 1814 (Origional)
2 Brown Bess India Pattern Repro (excellent early copy used in the film The Battle Of Waterloo)
3 Baker Rifle Repro (Used in the Sharpe series) A real one costs around £7,000 this was £500 It will fill a gap for now
    4 1853 Enfield 2 Band dated 1858
    5 Snider 2 Band dated 1860
    6 Mauser M1871 dated 1877
7 Martini Henry MkII dated 1877 (the first year was introduced) Used against British Soldiers in Afghanistan
8 Martini Henry MkII dated 1889 Nepalese Issue

I have sold some bits to obtain these , see if you can spot the difference with the Brown Besses!
The copy is superb and sparks really well.
I will post photos of each one in detail later.
Please feel free to make comment on any observations that will help my tie down an exact year for the Bess.

    Regards

    Jim

Great acquisitions - they are all very nice. Especially like both Brown Besses
and the Baker, repro or not !

The Sharpe series was well done. it has aired over here a couple of times
and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Fantastic to have an important piece
    of memorabilia from the show.........
    Regards,

    Steve.

Great collection, especially the Brown Bess. Speaking of India pattern, I read earlier today that Napoleon, after conquering Russia, was planning to invade India and outs the British. During the retreat from Russia a French baggage train or something was captured, and the Russians found maps and plans for the invasion of India.

Really nice - very impressed -
Are these still functional being of an age - I cannot remember my Uk laws.

Regardless nice items, thanks for sharing,

    Pit.

    Hello Pit,
Apart from the Repros they are all fully functioning.
They are classed as obselete calibre.
If you want to shoot them you need to get them proofed and have them on ticket.
You cannot display them you have to lock them away until you decide not to shoot them anymore and remove them from your ticket.
You can then put them back on the wall.

    Regards

    Jim

Fantastic collection you have aquired. There is nothing that compares to the look and feel of "old iron".
    Thanks for showing

Hi Jim, you certainly have been busy!

Right oudside my collecting experience, but I can appreciate the craftsmanship & history of them.

    Cheers, Ade

Fantastic collection of old rifles. I would love to have them on my wall. (My wife would probably disagree)
