Not same time frame picking. Yes the handguard is a bakalite type plastic.

Very nice score and yes tough to find often and getting more expensive all the time. I know that collectors that shoot them often use an Apfeltor shooters kit because of the strong action which is tough on receiver.

Nice rifle, and a tough code to find. I've found the recoil to be almost surprisingly mild in these.
