Remington Model 51 made in 1919

I have the opportunity to purchase this and may do. The only downside is amount of loss of bluing. Might wait for a better example.
This one does not fit into any category of military firearms as these we not accepted into military production. There was an attempt and testing of a 45 ACP model by the US Navy but not accepted over the 1911 design. This one just fits into an education and compare to thread for future.
This one was made pretty early in production and in the first full year of production. There were 25 made in 1918. Chambered in .380 caliber with original mag. There are very few markings on the exterior of these guns this early. They did start putting the Remington legend on the left side later in production.

The model 51 was produced from 1918 until 1934 with 54,518 produced in .380 ACP and produced in 32 ACP. *** This info credited to the Remington Society.

Spot on the the manufacturing dates John. One certainly not seen often and well built back then. My book is a few years old so can't give an approximate price on the value of today. Would appreciate hearing more on the accuracy. Like these oldies myself.
