Unknown British-type web holster for small frame auto pistol

I recently acquired a small lot of WW2-era US GI weapons related items [web gear] brought back by an officer who served with the US 7th and 3rd Armies in Sicily and the ETO. In the group was this holster. Khaki web construction with blackened brass buckle and tip characteristic of British made webbing, except for several features: [1] Size [measures 7 inches long and 6 1/2 inches across top of flap]. I'm not aware of the British armed forces having ever used a small frame auto pistol of any type. [2] Belt loop on back is too small for a British Pattern 37 belt [interior dimensions 2 inches], but would fit a German belt. Inside of tip is reinforced with brown leather.

No markings at all. Very simple construction with no spare mag pocket, cleaning rod slot, or any other features normally associated with military type small-frame auto pistols from this period. Quality is every bit as good as standard British P37 webbing. Looking forward to hearing your opinions and thanks in advance.
