Winchester Model 1895 .303 British

Hello everyone! What do you think of this old Winchester Model 1895 chambered in .303 British, serial number dated to 1901 and all british proof marks. It has the particularity of having letters and numbers printed on the stock, could they be rack numbers or something else? Could it have had a military background?

An interesting Winchester.
The 1895 was made in multiple calibers.
Not sure about military service.
The one note I did find is that .303 British was added to the 1895 line in 1898.
