    I am no expert, but that does not look 90 years old.

    it is absolutely mint, i got it for $1 so if it is a clever forgery it was for naught! i would think someone here could tell by the markings...

    It looks absolutly fine. I have owned WW1 dated US gear back in the 1980's when I collected US kit that was equally in mint condition.

    could be a grenade bag. the BAR was trialled in 1918 in France by John Browning's son, Val. There was a special belt issued for the BAR that had a butt pocket for "walking fire" and several pockets for the 20-round magazines.
